Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said Thursday it may upgrade its opinion of AmerisourceBergen Corp. soon because the drug distributor's business has held up despite the weak economy.
The agency raised its outlook on AmerisourceBergen to "Positive" from "Stable," and said the company's credit rating could be upgraded in 2011 if its profits remain stable.
Standard & Poor's has a corporate credit rating of "BBB+" on the company.

The company, AmerisourceBergen, applied for a sales-tax refund of roughly $160,000 that was paid to Terrebonne for drug sales between January 2006 and this past October to Frensenius kidney-dialysis clinics.
AmerisourceBergen says the transactions are exempt because the drugs were sold to Medicare patients.
Prescription-drug sales to Medicare patients are exempt from sales tax.
